Geoff and Gay Shapland founded G.S. Shapland Ltd in April 1992 after a management
buy out of New Zealand’s largest funeral supply company. Prior to this Geoff had
worked in the funeral supply industry from 1977 after 18 years of extensive
involvement in the plastic and chemical production industry.
In 1993 the company was relocated to a large modern factory in East Tamaki, allowing
for the expansion of products with the inclusion of Champion embalming fluids and
Batesville caskets to our range.
Following the addition of a mezzanine floor, the drapery division was relocated to the
factory completing our wish to have all major production lines manufactured on site.
This has enabled the introduction of a total quality control system, which involves
rigorous testing procedures, and ongoing research of product design and performance.
The last three years has seen a new storage and handling system installed with
updated computerisation of all stock processing.
The future development of G.S. Shapland Ltd will focus on the expansion of product
and processes that will keep us as market leader in the funeral supply industry.
